Outreach

PMBC was founded as an outreach to farm worker children in a newly developing community of Cranston that did not have a Sunday School program. Named after a medical missionary to India, we have prioritized service and mission our entire life!

In our annual budget, we support ABC-USA, RI State Council of churches, and AWAB. In addition, we collect four annual offerings:

Community

We regularly serve our community in a wide variety of ways, including through our Second Sunday food collection for the Comprehensive Community Action Program (CCAP), providing sandwiches for Church Beyond the Walls, supplying suppers to the No One Dies Warming Shelter houses at Community Church of Providence, and supporting the housing first work of Crossroads RI.

Home

Friends and members are invited to participate on one of our congregational ministry teams:

  • Building and Grounds oversees the care of our property.
  • Christian Education oversees all of our Christian education programs, including Sunday School, Bible studies, and children and youth programing.
  • Congregational Life and Fellowship manages our community gatherings – especially if they include food!
  • Mission Education and Outreach oversees much of our local volunteer work and our financial support of international missionaries and programs.
  • Visitation and Care makes sure our housebound members get communion and call on and pray for folx in times of medical and life crises.
  • Worship Planning and Arrangements (the team formerly known as deacons) oversees our worship services, including communion prep, organizing lay readers/ushers/greeters, running our AV system, and keeping our sanctuary in shape.
