Rev. Dr. Amy L. Chilton, PhD
Senior Pastor
(she/her/hers)
Pastor Amy is proudly bi-coastal, as a Pacific-Northwest native who came to Rhode Island in 2022 by way of North Carolina. This breadth of life experience colors much of her ministry, which is shaped by a passion for diversity and the full inclusion of all God’s beloveds into the life of the church.
Pastor Amy holds a Master of Divinity and PhD in Theology and Philosophy from Fuller Theological Seminary. She began her ministry career as a Youth Minister in Southern Oregon and has since served as an Associate Minister of Christian Education and Outreach in Tacoma, WA. She has also served as an adjunct professor at Fuller and visiting professor at Wingate University in North Carolina, teaching classes in global perspectives on Scripture, ethics, global theologies, introduction to theological studies, and Baptist studies. She has published two books: Theology in Many Voices (Baylor, 2023) and Sources of Light (Mercer, 2020). She is also active on the Baptist World Alliance’s commission on Baptist Doctrine and Christian Unity and serves on the American Baptist Church’s Board of General Ministries.
When not geeking out over all things theology, Pastor Amy can often be found in her large vegetable garden, knitting at the beach, reading, traveling, eating tacos, swimming, doing yoga, walking her sheepadoodle Daisy, or hanging with her college age daughter.
