Worship Services

At Phillips Memorial Baptist Church we worship together in-person and on Zoom each Sunday at 10 a.m.

Please contact our office for more information on how to access our Zoom stream.

What can I expect?

While our worship is fairly traditional in style, we still enjoy incorporating creativity (and humor) into our service! There is always a special lesson time with Pastor Amy for our youngest members, an opportunity to pray for shared prayer requests, and beautiful music provided by our music groups.

Some people dress up, and others more casually – come how you are most comfortable! While some of our regulars have their favorite seats, there is no assigned seating – sit where you are most comfortable. (Because of the large size of our sanctuary, sometimes our back rows are roped off).

Communion is held on the first Sunday of every month. We use grape juice and gluten-free bread. All are welcome to participate, including children. We ask only that you do so with a spirit of love.

Can I bring my children?

Absolutely! PMBC loves children and youth and we incorporate them into all we do! Each Sunday our older children and youth take turns participating in worship as Scripture readers. They also contribute to our bell choir, chime choir, and seasonal singers. Pastor Amy’s favorite part of the service is the children’s story – where our young attendees can join her up front for a kid-focused Bible lesson.

If your kids make noise – that’s ok! Children are important to us and are welcome even on their noisy days. If they need to stretch their legs during service, you are welcome to use the narthex at the back of the sanctuary to give them a break.

Where do I park? Are you accessible?

There is ample street parking on Colonial Ave and Branch Ave or you can park across Pontiac at Dave’s Market (there is a light and crosswalk between Dave’s and our courtyard). Once you are in the courtyard, the double doors to the right will take you up into the narthex and back of the sanctuary. You can also use the double doors parallel to the street and take the elevator to the 1st floor, where you will enter near the front of the sanctuary.

We have a gender-neutral and fully accessible restroom on our sanctuary level.

How do I get in?

On Sundays, our doors are unlocked until 10:05am, at which point we lock both doors for safety. Ushers will keep their eyes on the doors until 10:15am to let in anyone who comes late.

What do I do when I arrive?

Come on in! Ushers will be at both doors of our sanctuary with a warm welcome and printed bulletins that will help guide you through the morning worship.

Are services ever canceled?

If there is a winter parking ban on Sunday morning before noon, or a heat advisory that extends into Sunday morning service is moved onto Zoom.

We do hold one service outside of the sanctuary in the summer. We call it our “worship in the park.”
